For this project, Afton collaborated with photographer Shavonne Wong to bring the design to life by way of 3D modelling.
The inspiration for this design began with the thought that front liners are like a beacon of light in the darkness. The silhouette of the PPE jumpsuit is adapted from Reckless Ericka’s bestselling Faux Wrap Jumpsuit, which is drafted with a wide-leg pant. The jumpsuit has a sash that tunnels through the front to cinch the waist, giving the look a polished and relaxed vibe.
The silver material alludes to the shining light the front liners bring in a time like this. The mask, gloves and body suit feature the Mao Shan Wang print from the label’s “Singapore Food Series: Durian” collection. This original print, with the fruit, flowers and leaves sketched by Afton himself, comes in an explosion of colours and strong graphic elements. The vibrant reds, bright blues, neon pinks and vivid yellows converge and pay homage to the vibrancy and designs found on façades of shophouses, where many durian stalls in Singapore are located.
