/ Our Story /
Founded in 2009, Reckless Ericka was born out of a fearless spirit: To question conventions, blur boundaries, and craft garments that carry both meaning and joy.
Our name reflects our philosophy:
Be bold, curious, and unafraid to challenge expectations.
Inspired by Paul Arden’s Whatever You Think, Think the Opposite, we believe life is not linear but a series of vibrant detours. Ups, downs, and creative leaps. That same recklessness lives in every stitch of our work.

"Whatever you think,
think the opposite"
MEET THE DESIGNER
Afton Chen
Afton is the creative force behind Reckless Ericka.
A graduate of the Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design) programme awarded by Raffles College of Design and Commerce in Sydney, her studies were completed under Raffles Design Singapore in 2008.
Her journey into the fashion world began with recognition as a finalist in the Young Designer’s Contest at Singapore Fashion Week 2007. That milestone became the catalyst for founding Reckless Ericka in 2009, alongside co-founder Louis.
Afton’s design philosophy is rooted in curiosity and courage, guided by the spirit of Paul Arden’s Whatever You Think, Think the Opposite. Like the book’s character Ericka, she embraces life with enthusiasm, adventure, and a refusal to conform.
This same recklessness defines her work today: Creating fashion that celebrates individuality, culture, and the art of living boldly.

CRAFT, CULTURE, AND CARE
Each collection is developed in-house with an uncompromising approach to design and construction. We champion craftsmanship, drafting, refining, and reworking until the silhouette feels just right. We choose materials consciously, partnering only with factories with ethical practices and trusted artisans.
From bold prints inspired by heritage and humor, to tailoring that moves effortlessly with the wearer, our pieces are designed for real life, pieces to be worn, lived in, and loved for years, even decades.
Sustainability isn’t an afterthought.
It’s a core part of how we work.
We produce in small runs, minimize waste, and prioritize longevity in every garment.
A TIMELINE OF FEARLESS MOMENTS
Since 2009, Reckless Ericka has charted a bold path by blending fashion, storytelling, and cultural dialogue with a commitment to responsible design. Each year marks a chapter in our journey of fearless creativity.
