As the fashion industry continues to contribute largely to the effects of climate change through carbon emissions, water usage, chemical pollution, and waste generation. We want to do our part in aiding sustainable efforts and taking a step towards a greener future.

_______________

We believe that we have a responsibility to not only our customers, but also our planet. We take careful considerations when selecting the materials that we use in our productions to ensure that we are providing an alternative to fast fashion.

_______________

In the exhilarating whirl of fashion trends, it’s easy to be swept away by the allure of fast fashion – inexpensive, trendy, and ever-changing. Yet, as the creative force behind Reckless Ericka, I grapple with a poignant reality: the more we indulge in these fleeting pleasures, the more we feed into a cycle of unsustainable consumption. This industry norm not only depletes resources but also leaves a lasting scar on our beloved Earth.

At Reckless Ericka, we choose a different path. While the global landscape of fashion wrestles with excessive waste – with a staggering 205,800 tonnes of textiles discarded in Singapore alone in 2018 – we strive to tread lightly. Our ethos is built on the pillars of longevity and meaningful consumption. We invest in quality and thoughtful design, crafting pieces that transcend seasonal whims and encourage cherished, long-term relationships with your wardrobe.

Moreover, we are committed to the principles of 'reduce, reuse, recycle', understanding that less than 1% of clothing is currently recycled globally. This isn't just a tagline for us; it's a call to action. We explore innovative ways to minimize waste and creatively repurpose materials, ensuring that every Reckless Ericka piece you own is part of the solution, not the problem.

Our vision extends beyond fashion. It’s about nurturing a community of conscious, empowered women who understand the impact of their choices. Together, we can redefine what it means to be fashionable – by choosing wisely, caring deeply, and dressing boldly without compromising our planet’s health.

Thank you for joining us on this meaningful journey. Your support empowers us to continue pushing boundaries and championing sustainability in style.

With deepest gratitude and love,
Afton Chen
Co-Founder and Lead Designer

Digital printing reduces fabric and water wastage in the production process as compared to wet printing. Our material has undergone SASO testing, to ensure no harmful chemicals (formaldehyde, azocolorants) have been used, as well as within the limits of pH value, colour fastness, labelling and fibre content

_______________

Reflecting on our region’s rising temperatures, we have selected materials that are comfortable and breathable. Pieces marked with our Sustainability logo uses natural or recycled materials are produced in a way that minimizes the environmental impact.

Our Material

Recycled Polyester

This is a great sustainable option for your wardrobe as it gives a second life to materials that are not biodegradable, and keeps plastic from being thrown into landfills and ocean. It is as good as virgin polyester but takes less resources to make.

Recycled Polyamaide

Recycled polyamide fabrics are usually made from pre-consumer fabric waste, old fishing nets and carpets. It also produces significantly lesser carbon emissions compared to virgin polyamide during the production process. Despite their recycled origins, these fabrics maintain their characteristic toughness and durability.

Tencel

It is a brand name for a few types of sustainable fabric that uses wood pulp from trees in sustainably-harvested forest. It typically uses less water and chemicals that are less-toxic to produce. It is extremely versatile in it’s way of mimicking different fabric properties, while maintaining it’s hold on sustainability.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

It certifies that textiles have undergone rigorous safety tests to detect harmful substances detrimental to human health. Every component, including threads, buttons, and accessories, undergoes thorough testing before being authorized to bear the label, guaranteeing consumer safety and peace of mind

Our Packaging

We invite our customers to join us in our sustainability initiatives by bringing their own bags to studio appointments.

Additionally, for local orders, we utilise PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic mailers, which can be conveniently recycled through public blue bins in designated areas. For international orders, we have chosen biodegradable mailers to further minimize environmental impact.
