/The Reckless Conversations/
EPISODE 1
OUR SUSTAINABLE JOURNEY
Every year, the fashion industry produces mountains of waste. So how do we counter this problem?
At Reckless Ericka, every piece is built with sustainability in mind.
From the fabrics we choose, to how we print them, to what happens when you’re done wearing them.

RECYCLED POLYESTER
Regular polyester is made from petroleum — one of fashion’s biggest polluters.
But recycled polyester takes plastic bottles, breaks them down, and spins them into new fibers.
It looks and feels luxurious, but it saves energy, reduces waste, and gives existing materials a second life.

VISCOSE
Viscose was first developed in the 1800s as an alternative to silk.
Made from wood pulp, it drapes beautifully, breathes like natural fibres, and when responsibly sourced, it’s biodegradable.
It shows how old ideas can still hold promise for the future.

TENCEL
Tencel is a newer innovation, made from sustainably sourced wood.
The magic is in its closed-loop process, where almost all the water and solvents are reused.
The result is a soft, silky fabric with one of the lowest environmental footprints in the industry.

However, fabric is just part of the story.
Instead of flooding fabric with dye, we map each design like a puzzle — fitting the patterns precisely so there’s minimal off-cut waste.
Compared to traditional screen-printing, digital printing uses far less water, fewer chemicals, and lets us print only what we need.
Cleaner. Smarter. Gentler on the environment.

When you’re done with your clothes, there’s REnew.
Our Buy Back initiative lets Reckless Ericka customers return their garments in exchange for store credits.
We rework and repurpose them, keeping them in circulation instead of sending them to landfill.
Through REnew, we also partner with Safe Place — donating carefully curated pieces to women navigating unsupported pregnancies.
It’s one way fashion can meet real human need.

Even our packaging is part of the effort.
Your orders come in biodegradable polymailers, and in our studio, we encourage you to bring your own bag.

These may look like small steps. But together, they close the loop.
They serve as a reminder that sustainability isn’t just about doing less harm. It’s about choosing care, creativity, and possibility, at every stage.
