Mandai
Skies above Mandai Road: Paved in 1855 and identified as a Heritage Road, the name “Mandai” first appeared on the 1828 Plan of Singapore by Captain James Franklin on which a river was labelled “R. Mandi”. The name Mandai might be a corruption of mandi, meaning “bathe” in Malay. Today, Mandai Road passes through a part of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve within which the Mandai Wildlife Reserve parks, Mandai Orchid Gardens, Seletar Reservoir and Seletar Reservoir Park are located.
