A furoshiki takes its name from the Japanese words furo (bath) and shiki (spread), recalling its early use for bundling clothes and personal belongings at bathhouses. Over time, it evolved into a reusable cloth for wrapping, carrying and gifting.
Reckless Ericka’s Hypholoma Furoshiki from the UNDERSTORY collection brings that tradition into a richer, more graphic setting. Slender mushroom stems sweep across a deep burgundy ground, their charcoal caps and fine ivory linework interrupted by touches of gold. The composition captures the density of life beneath the forest canopy, where many small forms grow closely together while remaining distinct.
Designed in Singapore, this furoshiki is made to take on new forms with every use. Wrap it around a considered gift, tie it at the neck or wrist, wear it in the hair, or knot it onto a bag. It can also carry lunch, protect small keepsakes or bring a striking layer of print to the everyday.
The Hypholoma Furoshiki is an extension of the UNDERSTORY wardrobe, designed to be folded, tied and reimagined. Each arrangement reveals a different sweep of stems, caps and colour, allowing the print to shift every time it is worn, carried or given.
