A furoshiki takes its name from the Japanese words furo (bath) and shiki (spread), recalling its early use for wrapping clothes and personal belongings at bathhouses. Over time, it became a reusable cloth for carrying, covering and gifting, valued for its simplicity and versatility.
Reckless Ericka’s UNDERSTORY Furoshiki brings that tradition into the world of the collection. Mushroom forms unfold across the cloth in layered pinks and earthy neutrals, creating a richly mirrored composition framed by a deep green border. The print reflects the hidden life beneath the forest canopy, where growth continues through change, decay and renewal.
Designed in Singapore, it can be wrapped around a considered gift, tied at the neck or wrist, worn in the hair, or knotted onto a bag. It can also carry lunch, protect small keepsakes or bring colour to the everyday.
The UNDERSTORY Furoshiki is made to be used, rewrapped and reimagined. Each fold reveals a different part of the print, allowing the cloth to take on a new form every time it is worn or given.
